Als eines Tages der Familienkater der Creeds überfahren wird, weiht Jud Louis in ein Geheimnis ein: Im nahe gelegenen Wald gibt es einen Tierfriedhof, hinter dem aber auch noch ein alter Indianerfriedhof verborgen liegt. Was dort begraben wird, kehrt unter die Lebenden zurück – und wenn Louis den Kater dort begräbt, könne er seinen Kindern den Verlust des heißgeliebten Stubentigers ersparen. Also machen sich beide Männer bei Nacht auf, um das Tier zu beerdigen, und tatsächlich steht es am nächsten Tag wieder quicklebendig bei den Creeds vor der Tür. Doch irgendwas ist anders an dem Kater und Jud beginnt zu begreifen, dass er der Familie keinen Gefallen getan hat. Denn als es dann zu einem tragischen Unfall kommt, fasst Louis Creed einen schrecklichen Entschluss…
